You're in safe hands

With the announcement of a national lockdown on 4th January 2021, we will be unable to support internal visits with the use of rapid tests, in line with government guidance. Visits within our designated visitor suites can continue as normal however, and should be booked in the usual way. End of Life and essential visits will be facilitated as per government guidance. With the commencement of vaccination programmes in our Care Homes we will be reviewing this situation in line with advice from Public Health England and will welcome you back in to our homes with rapid tests as soon as it is safe to do so.

Somerset to enter Tier 4: What this means for visits in our care homes

Matt Hancock announced today that as of the 31st December 2020, Somerset will enter Tier 4 in an effort to combat the COVD-19 virus. Unfortunately this means that we will not be able to support internal visits with the use of Lateral Flow testing, also known as rapid testing. We know this is disappointing news and we are very sorry for those whose planned indoor visits will now need to be postponed. We will however be able to maintain visits through our designated visitor suites, which should be booked in the usual way of calling the home directly to book an appointment. End of Life and essential visits will be facilitated as per government guidance. More information on government guidance regarding visiting homes within Tier 4 is available here.

We recognise the importance of keeping our residents connected and engaged with their loved ones and will continue to support with virtual visits and call. Should you need assistance with setting up a video call, please contact [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help you.

Light at the end of the tunnel with vaccines already being rolled out:

The introduction of the vaccine means much hope remains however, with many of our staff and residents already receiving vaccinations. Lavender Court and Frith House have already had staff and residents vaccinated, with Cooksons Court and Greenhill House receiving their vaccinations tomorrow. In addition, many of our carers working in care homes and those proving domiciliary care, have, and will continue to be vaccinated, as the NHS continues with its vaccination programme. The government has committed to have all carers and care home residents vaccinated by the end of January 2021.

This means residents, staff and all connected families and friends can take comfort in our care homes being a safer place.

We will continue to review this situation in line with advice from Public Health England and will welcome you back in to our Homes with rapid tests as soon as it is safe to do so.

More information on Lateral Flow testing can be found here, should you wish for more information once they resume.
